First Project in Unreal Engine 5: 2D Sprite

For our first UE5 project, we created a game level out of a retro pixel sprite for a player to walk on and interact with, while also learning about connecting new materials to imported geometry.

I chose Skitty (the best Pokémon) as my sprite; specifically, the sprite art from the game "white 2", because it, along with black 2, was the only series of Pokémon games that had fully animated 2D sprite art in battle. I hope to return to this project and animate the "pixel" geometry to move like the in-game animation.

That's a big cat

It was fun to jump into a new program and learn on the fly, but a reminder to self: when creating blueprints, select Harvest Components. More importantly, when the Blueprints window comes up, you must SAVE AND COMPILE your new Blueprint, otherwise, it will eat your assets and disappear.
So that was fun to figure out.

Here is what the sprite looks like in the engine
